Hong Kong EPD: Marine Gasoil Cannot Exceed 0.05% Sulfur

The Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department (EPD) told Diesel Fuel News (DFN) on June 21 that it has notified marine gas oil (MGO) sellers and end-users that it plans to introduce a 0.05% sulfur limit on MGO in 2014 for vessels operating in local waters. “The notice seeks to regulate fuel supply, not fuel use,” Tony YT Lee, an EPD official, told DFN. “The notice informs the trades that marine gas oil sold or supplied on the Hong Kong market shall not contain more than 0.05% by weight.
