Petrobras announced June 19 that it signed a letter of intent with Sinopec for a joint study on the 300,000-barrel-perday (b/d) “Premium 1,” ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD)-oriented refinery project in the state of Maranho, Brazil. According to earlier announced Petrobras plans, the “Premium 1” refinery eventually would double in size to 600,000 b/d.
