A separate electric drive for the clamping unit, and force transmission in the toggle via a hydrostatic gear considerably increase the precision of an injection moulding machine. This low-noise and energy-saving form of operation also offers advantages over an all-electric machine. A highly sensitive mould protection system has been achieved through the use of an electric motor and ultrasonic displacement-measuring systems, together with newly-developed sensors.
