China: FeCr, Mn alloy prices rise

Higher feedstock costs and stronger demand from steelmakers supported a rally in the ferro-chrome market. Tight alloy availability and firm feedstock costs boosted the ferro-manganese and silico-manganese markets. Prices for ferro-silicon held stable in line with limited trading activity. Ferro-chrome Argus assessed the range for 50pc grade alloy higher at 7,400-7,600 yuan/t ($1,155-1,187/t) ex-works today compared with Yn7,400-7,500/t ex-works on 24 May and Yn7,300-7,500/t ex-works on 20 May. The increase was in response to higher chrome ore feedstock costs and an expected rise in restocking demand from the stainless steel sector, with major mills set to start their tender purchases for June delivery in about one week.
