STATISTICS ON THE CYCLODEXTRIN RELATED LITERATURE COLLECTED INTO THE CYCLODEXTRIN DATABASE (www.cyclodextrin.net)

Concerning number of publications 2008 seems to be again a prosperous year of the CD society. As much as 2270 publications including papers, conference presentations and the 480 patents published in 2008 have been collected so far in the Cyclodextrin Database, and these are not the final numbers yet, as some of the publications at the end of a year usually get available only in the first months of the next year. It is obvious from the data of the last 10 years (Fig. 1) that after a plateau in 1998-2002 there is again a definite growing tendency starting from 2003 with either a maximum in 2006 or a new plateau in 2006-2008 period. The patents in the database follow a similar tendency.
