Hong Kong-Aussie group eyes green hydrogen project in W. Australia.

Hong Kong-based hydrogen company Intercontinental Energy (ICE), Australian renewable energy company CWP Renewables, and indigenous people-owned Mirning Green Energy are pursuing the Western Green Energy Hub (WGEH) project, which will produce 3.5MM mt/y of renewable-based hydrogen ("green hydrogen)" which is equivalent to 5% of global supplies currendy, for the production of 20MM mt/y of renewable-based ammonia ("green ammonia"), which will be equal to 8.5% of ammonia production globally, in addition to other green fuels. The project, which is estimated by ICE to cost upwards of $70B, will have 50 gigawatts of wind and solar power to generate renewable electricity to produce hydrogen. An FID is expected after 2028.
