Japanese LPG Suppliers’ LPG Imports in FY2020

According to recently announced FY2020 import reports by Japanese LPG suppliers, Astomos Energy, GYXIS and other suppliers increased LPG imports from Canada. In total, Japan’s LPG imports in the fiscal year of 2020 fell below last year due to the coronavirus-related low demand, while suppliers diversified their import sources. The share of US LPG, which was 73.5% in FY2019, dropped to 67.1%. Japanese LPG suppliers’ total LPG imports in the year stood at 10.16 million mt, down by 5.2% year on year. Of which ENEOS Globe imported 2.956 million mt, down by 6.5%, while Astomos Energy’s imports were down by 10.1% to 2.591 million mt, and GYXIS’ imports down by 5.5% to 1.676 million mt. ENEOS Globe increased imports of US LPG, while decreased Middle Eastern LPG. US LPG accounted for 86.3% of the company’s total LPG imports.
