US imports of Mexican crude rise as refiners boost runs

US imports of Mexican crude climbed to 878,000 b/d the week ending June 18,the highest in nine months,as refiners boost runs to meet increased demand,US Energy Information Administration data showed June 23.On a four-week moving average,imports of Mexican crude have been climbing,growing from 490,000 b/d the week ended May 7 to 692,000 b/d the week ended June 18,EIA data shows.Over the same period,US refiners have boosted crude runs by roughly 1.1 million b/d to 16.1 million b/d.The imports are heading primarily to the US Gulf Coast,according to Kpler data,which projects 19.17 million barrels of Mexican crude coming into the region in June,up from 18 million barrels in May and 11 million barrels in February.
