South Korea’s domestic scrap flows increase as prices rise

Singapore—South Korea’s domestic scrap market saw steelmakers in the south report an increase in inflows Jan. 7 as prices rose from the week before but still remain more competitive than imports. Bids for Light A scrap, similar to Japanese H2 material, for delivery to southern mills were in the range of Won 415,000-435,000/mt ($382- $400/mt) in the week, with the midpoint up Won 24,500/mt from the week before, market sources said.
