Netherlands and UK become Turkey's top scrap suppliers as US fades

Bursa—Turkish mills' imports of ferrous scrap continued to rise in November, in line with the strong rise seen in Turkish mills' crude steel output in a buoyant finished product market. Two EU countries, the Netherlands and UK, became Turkey's top scrap suppliers in November as imports from Turkey's largest scrap supplier, the US, slumped in that month. Turkey, which is Europe's second largest steelmaker behind Germany, increased crude steel output by 11.6% year on year in November to 3.22 million mt. Turkish mills crude steel production in the first eleven months of 2020, thus reached 32.4 million mt, up 4.9% on year, despite the negative effects of the pandemic.
