CFR Taiwan containerized scrap continues rally as mills compete for cargoes

Singapore—Taiwan’s containerized scrap prices rallied for its second consecutive week as buyers settled in against offer hikes that began since mid-February, sources said. The S&P Global Platts TSI HMS I/II 80:20 containerized scrap price was assessed at $427/mt CFR Taiwan, up $25/mt on the week. Amid talks for containerized space issues, multiple deals, however, were heard concluded throughout the week, with most hovering in range of $425/mt CFR Taiwan, for US-origin HMS I/II 80:20 material, sources said. A 2,000 mt lot of similar material was also concluded Feb. 25 at $429/mt CFR.
