Asia met coal prices stay flat as buyers, sellers wait on sidelines

Singapore—Seaborne metallurgical coal spot prices were unchanged Jan. 8 following a lackluster trading day. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol unchanged at $102/ mt FOB Australia and $214/mt CFR China Jan. 8. In China, spot activity was thin as market participants were in no hurry to trade. "Prices have gone up too quickly and current spot prices are beyond what we are willing to consider. We are hoping that prices will cool off next week," a China-based end-user said.
