Singapore—China’s finished steel exports jumped 29.9% year on year in January-February, with some market sources expecting the uptrend to continue in March and April amid increasing demand. Many overseas steel mills are not expected to fully recover from the coronavirus pandemic hit at least until May, supporting China's short-term export demand, the sources said. According to customs data, China's finished steel exports in JanuaryFebruary rose to 10.14 million mt. The daily export volume, which started trending upwards since September 2020, continued to climb in the first two months of 2021 to 172,000 mt/day, up 9.9% from December.
