Latest garden centre planning applications show buoyancy in the industry, according to Malcolm Scott Consultants planner Chris Primett. A further 35 have been approved in the past year and another 12 have been submitted. Most are looking at extensions or conversions of existing space.Among new builds, Alver Valley in Gosport, Hampshire, the third site in the Your Local Garden Centre group after Mappleborough Green and Stansted Park, is set to open at the end of February 2022, says the group's Tim Mason. Enabling work has begun at the site, with an entrance being built so that work on the 5,400sq m building can proceed quickly when it starts properly in June/July.
