AMS DATING AND ANCIENT METALLURGY IN THE TSWAPONG HILLS, BOTSWANA

Several new Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) results for the Manong Dam site in the Tswapong Hills date the Diamant facies there to the 10th century AD. Diamant people were one of several to exploit the local iron deposits. Contemporaries included Zhizo people at Makodu who may have manufactured iron tools for relatives in the Limpopo Valley. Diamant people may have also traded with people in the valley.
