Dennis was an energetic enthusiast for all aspects of microscopy and medical history. He was elected to the Quekett on the 27~(th) February 1979 and served on the committee as Meetings Secretary and later as Collections Officer. He was widely networked across many societies and museums and brought lecturers to the Club's London meetings from these organisations and for several years arranged slide making workshops for amateur microscopists at Belstead House in Suffolk and, after this venue closed, at Flatford Mill. Dennis also believed in the importance of outreach and contributed much time and materials at events where microscopy could be demonstrated to the wider public.
