1 want the bars to be strong but not too long. There should be no possibility for stones to get trapped in the seat of corn. I use the middle part of my knife blade to trim ]the bars. I know some people like to leave more bar, but I have never had any problems with trimming them as long as the trim is not too short, which is true for all parts of the hoof.
