摘要

The newest Alliance for Clinical Education edited volume, Mind the Gap: Generational Differences in Medical Education, comprises 10 chapters discussing intergenerational differences and their implications for teaching and learning at different points along the continuum of medical education, from preclerkship education to independent practice. The volume is well organized, preparing the reader with three introductory chapters that set the context for conceptualizing generational differences, understanding potential sources of intergenerational conflict, and recognizing the shaping influence of healthcare and medical education policy on generational characteristics as they play out in the academic medical context. After five chapters analyzing generational differences across the training continuum, the volume closes with an exploration of generational implications for patient care and prognostication about the characteristics of the next generation.
