Asia metallurgical coal prices moved down in both China and ex-China markets in the premium coking coal segment, while weaker grades of coals gained momentum on limited spot availability. S&P Global Platts assessed the Premium Low-Vol HCC down $1/mt to $111.50/ mt FOB Australia Mar 26 on week, while delivered prices to China were down 50 cents/mt to $216.50/mt CFR China. Trading activity picked up in the ex-China market as competitively priced premium coking coal products drew buying interest. Prices of weaker grades such as PCI and semisoft gained support as supply tightened further due to rain and flooding at mining sites.
