China imported 547.18 million mt of iron ore first half of this year, 9.3% higher compared with 500.47 million mt in the same period last year. Chinese pig iron production reached 432.68 million mt in H1, up 7% on year. It proved to be a strong supply and demand market in the first half 2020. Shipments from the top ten export countries in the first half of this year all exceeded the same period in 2019 except for Brazil. India, Ukraine and Russia saw the largest y-o-y increases. The data reflected Chinese steelmakers' strong procurement demand and rapid post pandemic economic recovery.
