New-generation automation cables offer superior heat resistance

Modern factories place ever-in-creasing demands on automation cables, especially in terms of higher operating temperatures that can reach up to 90°C. Andreas Rietz, Nexans Global Product Manager Automation, outlines how this challenge has been addressed by a new generation of automation cables for industrial installations. The factory environment is particularly challenging for automation cables used in fast-moving installations, such as drag-chains, machine tools and robotics. They must withstand extreme dynamic loadings, often in harsh manufacturing environments, while ensuring reliable transmission of data and control signals and/or secure power supplies. The cables must also comply with international standards, while delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective performance.
