Free NIST Metric Program Webinars

During September 2020, the NIST Metric Program hosted two newly-designed online courses in preparation for 2020 Metric Week (4 to 10 October). Four free 90-minute webinar sessions were offered to K-12 STEAM educators and other outreach ambassadors who instruct students on measurement science. The webinar series was scheduled to promote national Metric Week, but also fulfilled the need for convenient pandemic professional development and virtual education ideas for teachers and parents. The NIST Metric Program plans to host additional free outreach webinar sessions and a “back-to-school” SI education program in 2021. Thank you to all USMA officers and members who participated! This year’s audience included participants from 14 states and two non-US countries. Webinars offerings included: 1. Info Session: Metric System Education Resources. Explore NIST Metric Program education publications and other resources that help students become familiar with the International System of Units (SI), commonly known as the metric system, develop measurement quantity reference points, and learn more about SI basics.
