Turkish rebar markets were mostly stable in June as mills assessed slowing finished steel demand in Asia. Mid-June, S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish exported rebar at $420/mt FOB Turkey. Turkey’s largest steel billet and bar producers, Izmir Demir Celik (IDC), restarted full production at its bar and sections rolling mills. IDC has 1.5 million mt/year of melting capacity and produces around 3.5% of Turkey’s total crude steel, while its rolling mills have production capacity of 1.4 million mt/year.
