摘要

Lumbar spinal fusion surgery is a common surgical procedure that can cause severe postoperative pain, which seriously affects the recovery of patients. Regional anesthetic techniques, such as the thoracolum-bar interfascial plane block, have been used for this purpose in spinal surgery. Although erector spinae plane block (ESPB) was first described for use in chronic thoracic neuropathic pain in 2016,1 it has been indicated to be an effective regional anesthesia technique for the prevention of postoperative pain in various surgical procedures.2,3 It was reported that ESPB (T12 vertebral level) provided perioperative analgesia in 6 patients undergoing lumbosacral spine surgery in a case report series.4 ESPB-related publications were found in many journals in a recent review. To the best of our knowledge, the randomized controlled studies on ESPB analgesia in lumbar fusion surgery are less reported.
