Turkish mills purchased large quantities of imported scrap at record high prices in December due to strong support from the finished product segment both locally and abroad. In addition, prices were influenced by the limited availability of raw materials due to the winter period as well as the introduction of lockdowns in some European countries. The prospects for the ferrous scrap segment in Turkey in January are rather vague and will largely depend on the demand for finished products and the availability of the material.
