Stelco swings to loss in 2020, stays optimistic

2020 performance of Canada’s integrated flat steel producer Stelco was negatively impacted by lower volumes and prices. However, the producer managed to com plete several strategic priorities which will help it recover in 2021. Despite the challenges caused by the COVID?19 pandemic, last year Stelco suc cessfully completed the BF upgrade and reline project at its Lake Erie Works asset in Nanticoke, Ontario. Besides, in late January 2021 the steelmaker successfully commissioned its 1 million stpy new pig iron caster.
