Revision of Monolepta Chevrolat, 1836 speciesfrom North-East Africa(Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae)**

Here, the species of Monolepta Chevrolat, 1836 from North-East Africa are taxonomically revised. From thisregion, covering the states of Egypt, Sudan, South-Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djbouti and Somalia, 15 species are known,seven of them: M. longiuscula Chapuis, 1879; M. postrema Chapuis, 1879; M. euchroma Fairmaire, 1883; M. nigropictaLaboissière, 1938; M. marginethoracica Laboissière, 1940a; M. nigrocruciata Laboissière, 1940b; and M. gobensis Laboissière,1940b are endemic to the Highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea. Further eight species occur in the region, but havewider distribution in Africa: M. cruciata Guérin de Méneville, 1847; M. lepida Reiche, 1858; M. vincta Gerstaecker, 1871;M. vinosa Gerstaecker, 1871; M. ephippiata Gerstaecker, 1871; M. citrinella Jacoby, 1899; M. leuce Weise, 1903; andM. jeanneli Laboissière, 1920 with M. kiwuensis Weise, 1924 as new synonym. Some species have been revised before,and then only additional collecting data are given here. Monolepta longiuscula, M. postrema and M. nigropicta are revisedfor the first time. Next to detailed redescription of these species, distribution maps and an identication key are given forall species.
