EIA estimates US shale oil output in May to decline

New York-Oil production in the major US shale plays is expected to fall 114,000 b/d in May from to 4.836 million b/d, which would be down nearly 807,000 b/d from May 2015, according to US Energy Information Administration estimates. While production is forecast to decrease, new-well productivity for each rig is expected to rise as producers focus only on the most fertile spots in the shale patch to get as much for their capital spending as possible.
