London-Statoil said Friday it had been picked as operator of the $33 billion project to devel- op Norway’s huge Johan Sverdrup field, which is due to come online in late 2019. Located offshore Norway on the Utsira High region in the North Sea, Sverdrup sits 155 kilometers west of the energy hub at Stavan- ger, covers Production License 265, PL 501, PL501B and PL502, and is one of the biggest discoveries ever made offshore Norway.
