Japan, India eye methane hydrate cooperation

Tokyo—Officials from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and representatives from other Japanese ministries and state bodies met with the head of India’s state owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Monday to discuss joint development of methane hydrate resources. The meeting, held in Tokyo between the Japanese officials and ONGC chairman and managing director D. K. Sarraf, took place on the sidelines of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Japan, a ministry source said.
