NDRC calls for gas production boost

Singapore—China’s top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, has urged state-owned companies to maximize gas production and ratchet up pipeline imports to ensure that winter and spring peak demand is met. With strong growth in Chinese gas consumption, the demand-supply gap could widen more in the coming winter and spring, the NDRC said in a statement on its website. “If temperatures are persistently low, the gas supply situation will be even more severe,” it cautioned.
