China, Korea raise Iranian crude imports

Hong Kong—China and South Korea both increased their crude imports from Iran in July compared with the previous month, bucking a trend of falling purchases from the Islamic Republic over the year so far. Chinese imports of Iranian crude rose by 3.2% to 1.69 million mt (an average 399,009 b/d), according to data received by Platts Thursday from the General Administration of Customs. Meanwhile, South Korea’s July imports of Iranian crude soared by more than 40% to 5.9 million barrels, an average of 190,516 b/d, data released by state-run Korea National Oil Corp. showed.
