Congress mulls Virginia OCS lease sale

Washington—The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives will push the issue of oil and gas exploration off the Virginia coast, even as federal regulators are on track to issue a decision on allowing seismic studies of the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf by October. Virginia Representative Scott Rigell has introduced a bill that would force the US to hold an oil and gas lease sale in the OCS off Virginia’s coast within one year.
