BP’s Cherry Point refinery considers Bakken oil by rail

Houston—BP is looking into the possibility of railing in Bakken Blend crude oil from North Dakota into its 225,000 b/d Cherry Point refinery, a source said July 20. If BP does proceed with its plans, then it would be the second Washington state refiner to do so. Tesoro is expected to begin railing in up to 30,000 b/d Bakken crude into its 120,000 b/d refinery in Anacortes, Washington before the end of the year.
