It's not hard to see how the mining reserve and resource reporting software developed for AngloGold Ashanti by South Africa's Specsoft could radically change practices across the industry if widely adopted - and, in the process, the fortunes of a new firm formed to promote it. As reported by Mining Journal last week, Australia-based Resource Governance International is seeking to raise up to A$3 million (US$2.3 million) to secure Specsoft's RCubed software IP and develop the estimated US$100 million-plus potential market for a web-based minerals reserve/resource reporting platform. The company also sees opportunities in the larger oil and gas market.
