Naimi Sees High Demand but Ample Supply

Saudi Arabia's influential oil minister sought to calm global oil markets on Monday by insisting that Opec has ample spare capacity to handle even unexpected- ly large demand growth in 2011. Ali Naimi said the world economy "has clearly passed" the financial crisis and deep recession of 2008-09, and in 2010 entered "a stage of growth which is ex- pected to continue this year, before accel- erating gradually."
