Australian Firm Sets Ball Rolling on Liberia Deepwater Drilling

Australia-based African Petroleum has spudded its first well offshore Liberia, part of a surge in deepwater exploration activity in the Liberia Basin. The latest well is the second deepwater probe to get under way in the past three weeks offshore the West African country, where US-based Anadarko Petroleum is already active and US major Chevron is set to launch a multi-well drilling program in the fourth quarter (IOD Jul.18'11).
