Rosneft Eyes Far East Drilling

State oil giant Rosneft has begun prepa rations to drill its first exploration wells i the Lebedinsky field offshore the Russian Far East sometime after October. The country's biggest oil producer received th license for the field, offshore Sakhalin Island, without a tender late last year. Seismic work is already under way at the field, which harbors an estimated 12 million metric tons (88 million bbl) of oil and 5.4 Bcm of gas (IOD Oct.1,p3).
