Lukoil Inks Iraqi Pipe Deal to Facilitate West Qurna-2 Exports

Russia's biggest private oil producer Lukoil has signed an addendum to its Iraqi West Qurna-2 contract envisaging construction of a pipeline for exports of the 1.2 million barrel per day field's output from the Persian Gulf. Under the deal signed on Thursday in Baghdad in the presence of the Iraqi Oil Minister Abdul Kareem Luaibi, Lukoil will build "two pipelines of up to 120 kilometers each between the existing Tuba Tank Farm, and the Fao Tank Farm, the main export hub in Iraq located on the Persian Gulf coast." Lukoil said in a statement late Thursday that the pre-investment study has already been completed for the project, which "foresees a direct connection of the pipeline to single-point mooring facilities and upgrading the pumping systems of the Tuba Tank Farm."
