Siemens, Cummins Team-up on U.S. EPA Tier-4 Diesel-Electric Locomotive

Siemens and Cummins announced December 3 that they’re teaming-up to produce diesel-electric passenger locomotives meeting upcoming U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier-4 emissions limits. “Cummins ‘QSK95’ diesel engines will be used in Siemens’ diesel-electric locomotives in the U.S., resulting in one of the most energy-efficient, lightweight, smart, diesel-electric locomotives available today in North America,” according to a joint press announcement from the companies.
