Consol Energy issues layoff notice for Enlow Fork coal mine

Houston—Consol Energy said 233 workers at its Enlow Fork mine in Washington County, Pennsylvania, will lose their jobs on August 31, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed July 9 with the state’s Department of Labor and Industry. The Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based company said on April 14 the Enlow Fork mine was being temporarily idled, “due to the weakness in coal demand and economic slowdown related to the [coronavirus] pandemic.”
