iCe european thermal coal futures volumes down by half in may

The total volume of May thermal coal derivatives traded and cleared on the ICE platform was 85.2 million mt, down 43.4% on year, the latest data from energy exchange ICE Futures Europe and electronic trading platform globalCOAL showed. Total options traded came to just over 1 million mt, but down 96% on year. ICE Rotterdam derivatives remained the largest traded contract with 65.9 million mt traded in May, but down 45% on the prior year. Traded Rotterdam options hit 1.27 million mt in May, down 95% year on year.
