Cefic has announced its support for the European Green Deal and the region's ambition to become climate neutral by 2050,and says the chemical industry has an important role to play toward achieving the plan's objectives,especially during the economic recovery from COVID-19.In December 2019,the European Commis-sion presented the European Green Deal,a roadmap to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.The deal covers all sectors of the economy and introduces numerous initiatives and strategies toward climate neutrality.Chemicals is one of the industries that the deal singles out.According to Cefic,this is because the industry can play a key role in the EU's green transformation,due to the importance and wide use of chemicals processes and products in various applications and markets.
