The electromagnetic fields and operating characteristics of a three-phase conductive-sheath cable are investigated using layered calculating models and stage equivalent circuits of asynchronous electrical machines with the assumption that thewindings of the stator and locked external rotor are the cable core and sheath, respectively. Results of an analysis of a 500 kV gas-filled cable are given.
