Remote backup protections for intermediate substations on radial overhead power lines

摘要

A comparative analysis of the efficiency of employing remote backup protections for power lines with taps is carried out. The efficiency of the protections is considered as a function of the percentage of motor loads, the power capacity of the transformers at the intermediate substations, and the transition impedance of electrical arc at the place where the fault has occurred. Recommendations on applying various protections against symmetrical short-circuit faults are given.
