Progress in design features of multi-purpose high-speed BMD type diesel engines

摘要

The article treats current and future performance level of multipurpose《BMD》 (чH 15/18) engine family. The design approach is based on optimum combination of design features, combustion process and supercharge, with due regard to actual thermal stresses in piston unit parts. Engine power ranges are defined where various piston types (cooled, non-cooled, unit-cast or built-up) are preferable.
