Some birds are clever and agile enough to steal food from other birds. Regardless of the food eaten or how it's procured, putting a meal on the table can be a lot of work. A minority of bkds does it on the cheap - they steal it. The stealing of food is called klepto-parasitism Birds steal from other species and their own species, but the behavior is neither common nor widespread Only about 1 2 percent of all birds (more than 100 species) practice kleptoparasitism. Stealing is more common among piedators than other birds; over half of kleptoparasitic species (about 63) are hawks, gulls, terns, or their relatives.
