摘要

Polymer coatings are effective in preventing the dissolution of silica chromatography columns in alkaline solutions, but the highly inert surfaces are found to have reduced ability to retain and distinguish relatively polar compounds. As a continuing study of the polymer coating technology, this paper describes an attempt to increase the surface polarity of the polymer-coated silica in order to alter its nature toward relatively polar analytes, to determine if additional benefits accrue.
