宮城県南三陸町自然環境活用センターの被災状況と現状

摘要

The Northeastern Japan Earthquake and following massive tsunami on 11 March 2011 exten-sively damaged the Pacific coastal communities in northeastern Japan. Shizugawa Nature Center was a town-managed institute of marine biological research and education in Minamisanriku, Miyagi. One of the major activities of the center was research in the fauna and flora of local marine environment. The center was completely destroyed by the tsunami and deprived of more than 90% of all 966 specimens and the newest specimen list. In this article, author described the detailed situation of Shizugawa Nature Center and its collection after the disaster.
