岩手県における生物標本のレスキュー災害に遭った博物館の収蔵標本を救う仕組みとは

In lwate Prefecture, the tsunami on 11 March 2011 destroyed four museums on the coastline. Thousands of natural history collections stored in the museums were severely damaged by the tsunami, and salvaged by museum staffs. Today a lot of museum staffs, researchers and volunteers across the nation have been involved in cleaning and restoration of the specimens. This paper reports procedures used in the salvage and the restoration of the collections, and discusses the emergency response and the disaster preparedness of museums.
